Twitter aids in the education of studdents, as well as for employees of companies. Companies send their employees for online education. http://www.knowliz.com/2010/10/interesting-facts-about-online-education-infographics.html is a good website that shows statistics of online learning. It also indicates that 96% of the universities offer at least one online based learning, further highlighting the fact that there has been a rising trend of using technology such as Twitter to educate students.

I have a WIRED Teachers group I started at our high school. Anyone else doing the same out there? We began two years ago working on infusing tech into the classrooms to improve student engagement and utilizing their tech "toys" as instructional tools. We focus exclusively on FREE ware. I am also looking at using the iPad as a possibility to replace textbooks. Anyone????

This is a GREAT way to think about this wiki! I really appreciate this. I recently heard someone (ON my PLN in TWITTER!) talking about wikis as textbooks. This is a great example of a professional development "textbook" for teachers using twitter. But wikis are even BETTER than textbooks of course because they are free, collaborative and continually updated with NEW information! Thanks for framing it this way. May I borrow this idea in coloradolearns wiki about the "how of 21st Century Learning" ... Would that be OK with ya'll?

Hey
This is a great idea are you going to package it as a pdf or some other form of exe ebook.
I would recommend using Clickbank as a way of distributing.
You should look at some of the ebooks in this category already though to see there sales and pitch pages so you can see how much is involved in selling a book online.

I teach in the International Baccalaureate program at my high school in New York. Part of our curriculum explores world literature. I would really love for students to interact and discuss some of the novels we read in class with students from one of the countries a particular novel is set in. Any connections worldwide? Suggestions or ideas?

I would start out with finding classrooms AT http://EPALS.com site; that way you know that your contact is with actual teachers and classes that match your students. You might then move to Skype chat and if you are interested in creating a radio program for your class room, our team would be happy to assist you to start your own radio blog; you could also use skype to communicate with students overseas about your shows. send me an email at vhbeazel AT yahoo dot com http://BlogTalkRadio.com/ApprenticeTeacher

My 11th graders do a similar research project entitled "A Proposal for Change". We do a lot of brainstorming and conferencing at first to develop topics. The brainstorming starts with writing prompts such as "Sometimes I feel frustrated when..." or "I wish I could change...". Then through pair discussions and conferencing we guide them to a problem they revealed that they are interested in. Some results of their research can be podcasts or YouTube videos creating awareness about their problem and proposed solution.

As part of a professional development project, we are including a survey to find out how "tech savvy" our teachers are with 21st learning. Any suggestions?
